The Asian Development Bank Conference:

on International Regulator Cooperation: Reforms and Impact

Professor Fariborz Moshirian, the Director of the IGF, was invited as one of the keynote speakers to the conference on International Regulator Cooperation: Reforms and Impact. The conference was held in Seoul, Korea on May 23, 2012. The conference was jointly organised by the Asian Development Bank and Financial Supervisory Service (FSS).

As part of the conference, the panel discussion focused on macro-prudential supervision, new risk management measures, corporate governance enhancements and the adoption of Basel III.   The panel discussion also focused on suggestions regarding the review of national deposit insurance systems.  The panel discussion sought to understand: (1) the implementation issues with the proposed regulatory reforms and the consequential impacts within each national jurisdiction; (2) the benefits or problems currently being experienced, or expected to occur, regionally; and, (3) the viability of alternative solutions to address the issues.

The conference created an opportunity for financial regulators to get together to understand the regulatory reforms being undertaken across the financial markets and to consider their implementation and impact.  It promoted regulatory cooperation among and within the securities and banking markets.
